Lifework
Building the capacity to create
A person with their AI environment, an organisation, and a community: three levels of my lifework.
My lifework is to help people become creators: people who can take an intention through to a working system that makes a difference in other people’s lives.
Building across system levels
The systems I build connect at three levels:
- Person + AI environment. A person and their environment, including IWE, working and developing as one system while preserving human authorship.
- Organisation. Aisystant for international audiences and the Workshop for Engineers and Managers for Russian-speaking audiences: strategy, management, products, and collaborative work.
- Community and ecosystem for intellectual development. More than 13,000 people across more than 30 countries: people, shared practice, and an environment in which new systems can emerge.
Each level brings its own engineering, management, and entrepreneurial questions. I am interested in how these systems support one another’s development.

A time to create
I believe there has never been a better time in history to build and create. In science, technology, and AI, I see opportunities for individuals and small teams to tackle problems that were previously beyond their reach.
My response is to build systems, develop new capabilities, and help others do the same.
Society, civilisation, and the cosmos
I am interested in how today’s decisions connect to the development of society and civilisation. Where are the frontiers of science? How can we extend what we know? What possibilities will the exploration of the cosmos open?
These philosophical questions give my work a longer horizon. They prompt me to consider the systems we may need and the part of building them that we can take on today.
Thinking and craft
Building requires systems thinking, engineering and management skills, and the ability to learn and work with others. I develop these capabilities in my own work and build environments that help others do so.
I treat a person together with their AI environment as a whole system. Its development should expand the person’s ability to act while preserving their judgement, purpose, and responsibility.
The adapted manifesto extract explores the role of intelligence in working on complex problems.
